Assembly Elections 2022: BJP to announce candidates list for Uttarakhand Polls

The BJP has released a list of 59 candidates, including 10 existing MLAs.Pushkar Singh Dhami, his 11 cabinet colleagues, and BJP Uttarakhand president Madan Kaushik have all been handed tickets to run in their respective constituencies.Pushkar Singh Dhami to contest from Khatima.

Col Vijay Rawat (retd), younger brother of India’s late first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat, joined the BJP on January 19 in the presence of CM Dhami, state in-charge and BJP national general secretary Dushyant Gautam, and Uttarakhand BJP president Madan Kaushik in what can be described as a shot in the arm for the BJP.

Trivendra Singh Rawat, the former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and a BJP leader, has stated that he will not run in the Uttarakhand Assembly elections in 2022.

Rawat wrote to BJP President JP Nadda in a letter, saying: “The state’s leadership has changed, and the party now has a youth leader, Pushkar Singh Dhami. In light of the new political landscape, I believe I should not run for the Assembly in 2022.”
