Srinagar: An army truck in Bandipora district, Jammu & Kashmir, met with a tragic accident on Saturday when the driver lost control on a bend in the Sadar Koot Payeen area, causing the vehicle to tumble down a hill. The incident resulted in the deaths of two soldiers on the spot, and five others were seriously injured. The injured soldiers have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
This marks the third major accident involving army vehicles in the past 20 days. On December 24, a vehicle slipped off the road near the Line of Control in Poonch district, falling into a 300-foot deep gorge, killing five soldiers. Another incident occurred in Bandipora on December 15, where a military vehicle crashed near Zedkhushi Nala, injuring several soldiers.
Winter weather and slippery mountain roads continue to increase the risk of such accidents. In addition, reduced visibility due to snowfalls complicates driving conditions. Local authorities are calling for extra precautions to prevent future accidents.
The army has confirmed the deaths of two soldiers in this latest incident and expressed condolences, urging better road safety measures.
