Dantewada: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a significant visit to Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, made a strong declaration against Naxal violence. Addressing a large public gathering, Shah asserted that Red Terror—the longstanding issue of Naxalism—will be wiped out entirely by the next Chaitra Navratri. He appealed directly to the Maoists operating in the region, urging them to surrender and return to the mainstream, while assuring full government support and protection.
“Naxalism in Bastar is Breathing Its Last”: Shah
Speaking at the event, Shah emphasized the dwindling influence of Naxals in the Bastar region. “Naxalism in Bastar is nearing its end. I appeal to all Naxalites to lay down arms and help liberate their villages from this violence,” he said. To encourage participation in the peace process, he announced that every village that actively contributes to eradicating Naxalism will receive financial aid of ₹1 crore.
Peace Over Violence: Government Assures Full Protection
Reaching out to the Naxals, Shah said, “We do not wish to see bloodshed. If you surrender peacefully, both the Central Government and the Chhattisgarh Government will ensure your complete safety.” This marks a clear shift toward rehabilitation over confrontation, aligning with the government’s aim to establish long-term peace in the tribal heartland.
Bastar Pandum to Gain Global Recognition
Highlighting the cultural richness of Bastar, the Home Minister announced that the traditional festival Bastar Pandum will be promoted internationally. He said the Central Government is committed to showcasing Bastar’s cultural identity on a global platform, which will bring pride and new opportunities to the region.
Grand Welcome and Cultural Honours
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed Amit Shah on stage with the region’s traditional Gaur Mukut (tribal crown), symbolizing respect and unity. Shah was also presented with Dhokra art, the iconic metal craft from Kondagaon, as a token of Bastar’s rich artistic heritage.
Sharp Criticism of Congress
Taking a dig at the Congress party, Shah said, “For 75 years, Congress made empty promises like ‘Garibi Hatao’ but failed to deliver. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, crores have been lifted out of poverty.” He further highlighted the success of Modi’s welfare schemes, such as free food grains for millions of underprivileged citizens.
A Spiritual Note to the Visit
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah visited the revered Maa Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada, accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, and Minister Ramvichar Netam.
This visit marks a decisive moment in the Centre’s efforts to eliminate Naxalism and promote tribal pride and prosperity in Bastar. Shah’s strong message of peace, protection, and progress sets the tone for a new chapter in Chhattisgarh’s journey toward lasting stability.
