New Delhi: As the deadline for filing nominations for the Haryana Assembly elections approaches, the potential alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) remains unresolved. On Monday, AAP Haryana President Sushil Gupta announced that the party will release its list of 90 candidates if no agreement is reached by the end of the day. This was supported by Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who confirmed that AAP has completed the candidate selection process for all Haryana legislative assembly seats.
Regarding the AAP-Congress alliance speculation, Singh stated, “Sandeep Pathak has already addressed this issue, and Sushil Gupta has reiterated that we are fully prepared with our candidates. The decision to announce the list and proceed with the elections will depend on directives from the party leadership and national president Arvind Kejriwal. As a national party with a strong presence in Haryana, we will act on the instructions from our leadership.”
Singh further emphasized the urgency, saying, “With the nomination deadline on September 12, our ground-level workers will consult with Arvind Kejriwal to make a unified decision swiftly.”
AAP Haryana Chief Sushil Gupta had previously indicated that if the high command does not provide clarity on the alliance by the end of the day, the party would proceed to release its list of candidates for all 90 assembly seats. Gupta underscored that AAP is fully prepared to contest all seats and will announce the candidate list promptly if no alliance decision is communicated.
With only three days left before the nomination deadline, AAP and Congress are still in negotiations for a possible alliance. The election for Haryana’s 90-member legislative assembly is scheduled for October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The vote counting will take place on October 8.
