Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concern to French President Emmanuel Macron that imposing restrictions on arms sales to Israel would inadvertently strengthen Iran. This discussion follows a public exchange between the two leaders regarding Macron’s proposal for an arms embargo on Israel.

According to an Israeli statement, Netanyahu emphasized, “It is expected that Israel’s friends stand behind it and don’t impose limitations that only bolster the Iranian terror axis.” He further noted that ongoing IDF operations against Hezbollah, which Macron has criticized, present a chance to foster stability and peace in Lebanon and the broader region.

The two leaders agreed to continue their dialogue during French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot’s upcoming visit to the region. As of now, France has not provided a summary of the conversation.
