Music composer duo Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya are celebrating the success of their latest project, Stree 2, but remain focused on pushing forward rather than resting on their laurels. Known for their work on the 2018 hit Stree, Sachin-Jigar have once again delivered a memorable soundtrack for the horror-comedy sequel, which has achieved remarkable success, grossing over Rs 600 crore in India.
In a recent interview, Sachin shared his excitement about the achievement, acknowledging the overwhelming response from fans. He described waking up to impressive box office figures as a surreal experience and emphasized the importance of not becoming complacent. The sun is shining bright on us, but that doesn’t mean we should become complacent, Sachin said. We need to see this success as a stepping stone and continue to work hard and break more records.
Jigar echoed this sentiment, noting that it’s rare for both a film and its music to be equally appreciated. He pointed out that the success of Stree 2 is a testament to the synergy between the film’s content and its soundtrack. Sometimes, the film works but the music doesn’t, or vice versa. It’s rare when everything lands perfectly. We are grateful for this milestone in our career, Jigar said.
The duo also discussed their approach to music and their desire to bring audiences back to theaters. Sachin emphasized that they want people to experience their music on the big screen, rather than relying on home entertainment systems. He acknowledged the challenge posed by the streaming era, where independent artists are gaining prominence and traditional film songs are less common. We want audiences to come to theaters to experience the full entertainment package that our music offers, he explained.
Jigar highlighted the shift in how music is used in films, noting that the focus is returning to integrating music as a key element of storytelling. He recalled how their previous work on films like Zara Hatke Zara Bachke also saw audiences coming to theaters specifically to enjoy the music. Even though trends have changed, there’s a resurgence in using music as a significant part of film promotion and storytelling, Jigar added.
Sachin-Jigar’s collaboration with Maddock Films, which produced Stree 2, has been fruitful, with previous successful soundtracks for films like Badlapur and Bala. Sachin mentioned their strong relationship with producer Dinesh Vijan, who regards them as family. It’s important to have trust within the team. We never pitch a song; we play it for him. If he likes it, we produce it, Sachin said.
Looking ahead, Sachin-Jigar are excited about their upcoming projects, which include Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, Raaj Shaandilya’s Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Pulkit’s Maalik, and Raj & DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny series. The duo is committed to continuing their creative journey and delivering music that resonates with audiences and enhances the cinematic experience.
