New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday accused Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar of engaging in politics and damaging the credibility of the Election Commission (EC) over the Yamuna pollution controversy. Kejriwal Challenges Leaders to Drink Contaminated Water Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that the Haryana government was "mixing poison" in the Yamuna and questioned why Kumar had sent him a notice over the issue. He announced that AAP MP Sanjay Singh would deliver bottles of 7 PPM water to: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva Haryana CM Nayab Saini Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi "If they believe this water is safe, they should drink it," Kejriwal challenged. CEC Accused of Political Bias Kejriwal accused CEC Rajiv Kumar of acting politically and seeking a post-retirement position. He alleged: “No one has damaged the EC’s credibility more than Rajiv Kumar." "If he wants, he can contest elections from any Delhi Assembly seat." EC Rejects Kejriwal’s Response, Demands Clarification On Wednesday, Kejriwal responded to the EC’s notice, stating that the raw water from Haryana was “highly contaminated and extremely poisonous”. However, the EC dismissed his 14-page reply, saying it failed to address the core issue. The commission has now given him until 11 AM on January 31 to provide further clarification or face "appropriate action". Kejriwal’s Allegations Against Haryana CM Kejriwal further criticized Haryana CM Nayab Saini, claiming that he backed out of his promise to drink the Yamuna water in Palla. "He took a sip but spat it out," Kejriwal alleged. He vowed to continue fighting against polluted drinking water in Delhi, saying: "Even if I am arrested in two days, I will not let Delhiites drink poison." With tensions rising, the battle over Yamuna pollution has taken a political turn, adding to the ongoing conflict between AAP and the BJP-led Haryana government.
