RANCHI: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is currently leading in the Barhait assembly constituency with a margin of 2,812 votes over BJP candidate Gamliyel Hembrom.
In the 2019 elections, Soren had contested from two constituencies, Barhait and Dumka, securing victories in both. He won Barhait by a significant margin of 25,740 votes and Dumka by 13,188 votes. Subsequently, he vacated the Dumka seat, and his brother Basant Soren was elected from there in a bypoll.
As the counting progresses, Hemant Soren’s early lead reaffirms Barhait’s importance as a stronghold for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader.
