Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Chief Ministers’ Council in Chandigarh on Thursday, focusing on key development issues and the upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

The meeting gathered Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP and NDA-ruled states to discuss various topics, including the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ of the Constitution and the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975, referred to as the “attempt to murder” democracy.

Senior leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda, participated in the discussions. Attendees included Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others.

The meeting commenced shortly after Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in for a second consecutive term as Haryana Chief Minister. With the BJP and its allies gearing up for the upcoming polls, the gathering aimed to showcase the NDA’s unity and strength following its recent victory in Haryana, as it prepares to challenge the opposition alliance in the elections next month.
