New Delhi, Feb 3, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi, alleging that it selectively promotes students to Class 10 to maintain favorable board exam results.
Speaking during an interaction with students, PM Modi claimed, “I have heard that in Delhi, students who perform poorly in Class 9 are not promoted to Class 10. Only those who are certain to pass the board exams are allowed to proceed, as the government fears poor results might harm its image.”
A short video of the interaction was shared by BJP leaders on social media, who accused the AAP government of prioritizing propaganda over students’ education. They argued that instead of improving learning outcomes, the government restricted students from taking exams to make its education model appear successful.
The remarks come just ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, where the AAP, BJP, and Congress are engaged in a three-way contest. The results will be declared on February 8.
