Chandigarh: Aarti Rao, daughter of veteran politician Rao Inderjit Singh, is poised to make her political debut, focusing on issues of alleged discrimination against South Haryana. With a distinguished background, Aarti has an impressive educational history, having attended the Lawrence School in Sanawar and the Modern School in Delhi. She also boasts fifteen national titles in women’s skeet shooting.
After completing her BA from Delhi University, Aarti married businessman Himmat Singh and was recently appointed President of the Haryana Para Sports Association. As she prepares for the 2024 assembly elections, Aarti remains optimistic about securing a party ticket, despite previous denials in 2014 and 2019.
Continuing the legacy of her ancestors, Aarti has dedicated the past year to engaging with residents in the region. She holds regular sessions at the ancestral Rampura house and travels extensively across Gurugram, Rewari, Narnaul, and Ateli to address community concerns.
Aarti has stated her determination to contest the upcoming elections: “I will contest the election this time. From where and how I will contest – time will tell. But I will certainly contest the election.” Although she has not previously contested, she has been vocal about the challenges faced by South Haryana.
Her father, Rao Inderjit Singh, a prominent political figure with a history of representing the region under both Congress and BJP banners, has faced his own challenges in Haryana politics. Observers note that both Aarti’s past candidacy rejections and her father’s obstacles may be linked to their non-RSS affiliations.
As Aarti Rao steps into the political arena, her focus on South Haryana’s issues will be a defining aspect of her campaign, as she seeks to secure her place in a competitive landscape.
