NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu, expressing deep anguish, declared “enough is enough” on Wednesday, urging India to confront the “perversion” of crimes against women and challenge the mindset that devalues them as “less powerful, less capable, less intelligent.”
In an exclusive signed article for PTI, President Murmu emphasized the need to address and dismantle the harmful perceptions that objectify women. “We owe it to our daughters to remove the obstacles in their path and ensure their freedom from fear,” she stated.
Highlighting the recent rape and murder of a junior doctor in a Kolkata hospital on August 9, Murmu described her dismay and horror, noting that such incidents are part of a troubling pattern of violence against women.
