New Delhi: The ongoing debate between Lakshadweep and Maldives continues to captivate attention, drawing praise from Pakistani journalists who are impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s influential role in the region. PM Modi’s viral videos and pictures during his visit to Lakshadweep showcased the beauty of India’s beach paradise, but drew “distasteful” remarks from Maldives MP Zahid Rameez, who deemed the idea of competition as “delusional.”
As the issue gained traction on social media and reports surfaced of potential suspensions of MPs, the Government of Maldives clarified its stance. Pakistani journalist Qamar Cheema expressed admiration for India’s influence, while Aaliya Shah commended PM Modi for effectively promoting tourism through the viral pictures.
Although Maldives remains a top tourist destination, PM Modi’s vision for Lakshadweep has significantly boosted the Union Territory’s tourism prospects. Focused on uplifting the lives of the local population through various development projects, PM Modi aims to transform Lakshadweep into a major tourist hub similar to Maldives. The Central Government has allocated over Rs 1,150 crore to enhance Lakshadweep’s infrastructure, underscoring its commitment to the region’s development.
