Jaipur: Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, condemned the Centre’s decision to rename the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in Delhi on Thursday and charged that it undermined the accomplishments of the nation’s first prime minister.
Gehlot questioned what the government hoped to accomplish by renaming the institution Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library. “It is incomprehensible how far the NDA administration at the Center will go to rename the work done by its preceding prime leaders. It’s a bad situation, Gehlot wrote in a post on X.
Any prime minister should be proud that Jawaharlal Nehru served as this nation’s first leader, laying the groundwork for a powerful India during his 17-year tenure with organizations like the IIT, IIM, BARC, BHEL, the Planning Commission, Bhakra Nangal Dam, and Nagarjuna Sagar, which were significant to India’s development.
Nehru is credited with creating the tenets of Panchsheel and the Non Aligned Movement (NAM), according to Gehlot. Pakistan, which is six times smaller than India and gained independence alongside it, is currently in danger of extinction. The country is on the verge of a civil war and there isn’t even food available for the populace, according to him.
With effect from August 14, the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society has taken the place of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML).
