A mega exhibition cum seed mela was organised at Shalimar University in Kashmir. It was organised by the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST). The purpose of the exhibition was to aware farmers and growers regarding the latest seed varieties of paddy, fruits, vegetables and flowers with the latest technologies. Thousands of people especially farmers and growers thronged the exhibition. Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Fisheries and others installed their stalls with new varieties of seeds. Visitors purchased different kinds of seed material of paddy, vegetables, flowers and fruits at reasonable rates. From the economical point of view, agriculture and other departments including Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture, and Sheep animal husbandry are the backbones of the valley. Most people are belonging to these sectors directly or indirectly and earning their livelihood. That’s why visitors demanded that authorities should continue such type of activities for the promotion of the agriculture sector.
