New Delhi : Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu farewell on Monday in the Upper House, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent figures in attendance.
Naidu leaves his position on Wednesday, and Jagdeep Dhankhar, his replacement, will take the oath of office on August 11.
Due to Muharram and Raksha Bandhan, the House will not meet on Tuesday or Thursday, according to sources.
On behalf of all the House members, they said, there would be another farewell celebration for Naidu on Monday evening at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium.
The deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha will give the goodbye speech, and the prime minister will give Naidu a souvenir.
The prime minister will publish a book that details Naidu’s time serving as vice president and chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Dinner will be served after this.
Dhankhar met Naidu here on Sunday, one day after it was announced that he had been chosen as the 14th vice president.
Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu welcomed Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh to the Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas.
