Sanjay Raut remanded to judicial custody

Nagpur: Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut has been remanded to judicial custody until August 22.

Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Department (ED) around midnight on July 31, in connection with a scandal of over a thousand rupees in the redevelopment of Patra Chawl in Mumbai. ED also summoned Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha for enquiry in this connection. Transactions in her bank account are under the ED’s scanner. The transactions in Varsha Raut’s accounts run in crores, received from an unknown person.

ED will demand custody of Sanjay Raut for a longer period in court.

Sanjay Raut has been charged with money laundering in the Patra Chawl development project. The scandal runs to Rs 1034 crore for illegally selling FSI (Floor Space Index).
