New Delhi: After Supreme Court approved the clean chit given by the Special Investigation Agency, Home Minister Amit Shah broke his silence on the matter and the accusation levied on the Prime Minister. Amit Shah, in an interview to a news agency on Saturday, said Supreme Court’s decision proves that the allegations levelled against Prime Minister were nothing but a political conspiracy.

He attacked Congress’ protest during Rahul Gandhi’s Enforcement Directorate interrogation and said Narendra Modi was interrogated for hours but there were no protests of any sort. Shah said Modi showed his confidence in the judiciary and cooperated completely. He added that no current or former MLAs or MPs were called to protest against the proceedings, a perfect example of how the constitution can be respected in a democracy. He said people who falsely accused Narendra Modi, if have any conscience, should apologise to Modi, BJP and the country. Amit Shah said Modi has been in pain of all these false allegations.
He said that Modi believed in the judiciary promoted silence and refrained from comments, even though the allegations made were not true as the judicial process was underway. Shah added that only a strong-minded person could take such a stance.
On the allegation of delay in the arrival of the army at the site, Shah explained the day the Gujarat bandh was announced, Army was called the same afternoon but it takes time for the Army to arrive. Shah then rebutted saying, whoever is questioning should reflect why was the army not called for 3 days at the time of the Sikh massacre in Delhi. He added that Modi also formed SIT to get justice for the Sikh brothers.
Shah said that people’s mandate is of utmost importance in a democracy and people have always stood with Modi even though some journalists, NGOs and anti-BJP political parties falsely painted his negative image. He further narrated that false articles were written in newspapers in the country and abroad whenever investment summits were held in Gujarat or whenever he went on foreign tours to embarrass Modi. He said every effort was made to implicate him but the truth can never be suppressed. Even Supreme Court has stated that Zakia Jafri seemed misled and used to work on the instructions of someone else.
Shah referred to the judgement given by the Supreme Court and said that the judgement mentions Teesta Setalvad and her NGO. He continued she had an NGO that gave such applications involving BJP workers, at all Police Stations, there was so much pressure by the media that all applications were treated as truth. Shah explained NGO signed affidavits of several victims & they didn’t even know. Everyone knew Teesta Setalvad’s NGO was doing this, when UPA Govt came to power at that time, it helped the NGO, Shah said.
Shah said Court dismissed the allegation of the riot being called pre-planned and also dismissed Tehelka’s sting operation as it was found that the sting op was politically motivated.
On things going out of hand amid the Godhra crisis, Shah said Police had done a good job there was rage around the Godhra train burning incident and it went out of control. Home Minister added that everything was done to control the situation, it takes time to control. Shah quoted late ex-Punjab DGP KPS Gill saying that Gill never saw a more neutral & prompt action in his life, still, allegations were levelled even against him.
Former Bharatiya Janata Party President said the basis for the agitated riots was 59 people burning alive, including a 16-day-old child.
