Mumbai: The Additional District and Sessions Court of Islampur has given its verdict in the case filed 14 years ago in Shirala, Sangli district. As a result, Raj Thackeray has been directed to attend the proceedings of the Shirala court proceedings through video conferencing.
In the year 2008, there was a statewide agitation for job opportunities for Marathi youth in Indian Railways. A case was registered against Raj Thackeray in Kalyan. He was also arrested. After that, agitation was organized by MNS all over the state.
MNS district president Tanaji Sawant had called a bandh at Shedgewadi in Sangli district. The case was registered against the traders for forcing them to close their shops and agitating. MNS president Raj Thackeray, Shirish Parkar, district president Tanaji Sawant and ten others were charged with illegal gathering of people, disturbing the peace, misleading people and making slogans.
Shirala court had issued arrest warrant against MNS president Raj Thackeray. However, Raj Thackeray could not be present during the hearing by Thackeray’s lawyers. An application was made to cancel the arrest warrant in his absence.
The application was rejected by the Shirala court. An application challenging the Shirala court’s decision was filed by Raj Thackeray in the Additional District and Sessions Court of Islampur. This is the result.
The Beed court also issued a warrant
Earlier, the Beed Parli District Court had also issued a non-bailable warrant against Raj Thackeray. Raj Thackeray had agitated for Marathi boards. The warrant was executed in that case. The Parli court had also written a letter to the Mumbai police in this regard.
There are many cases against Raj till date. Raj Thackeray also comments in this regard. Raj Thackeray is known for his aggressive speeches. We had seen the repercussions of his speech for the next eight to ten days.
