Veraval (BT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged residents of Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district to vote for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in all polling booths. Addressing a rally in Veraval town after praying at the iconic Somnath Temple nearby, the Prime Minister asked voters to turn out in great numbers on election day and shatter all previous voter turnout records.

He was campaigning for four BJP candidates in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district, where Assembly elections are set to take place in two stages on December 1 and 5. I want you to make certain that the BJP wins in every single booth here. Will you help me? My goal this time is to win in every polling booth. If you support me, these four BJP candidates will automatically be elected to the Assembly, Modi stated.

Voting in 89 of Gujarat’s 182 Assembly seats will take place on December 1, and in the remaining 93 seats on December 5. Vote counting will begin on December 8.
