Himachal Budget 2025: Relief for Dairy Farmers as CM Sukhu Announces Hike in Milk Procurement Price

Shimla | March 17, 2025

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while presenting the state budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, announced a major relief measure for dairy farmers by increasing the procurement price of milk by ₹6 per litre.

Under the revised rates, cow milk will now be procured at ₹51 per litre, up from ₹54 per litre, while buffalo milk will see an increase from ₹55 per litre to ₹61 per litre. This move aims to provide financial stability to dairy farmers and promote livestock farming in the state.

In addition to this, CM Sukhu also emphasized the promotion of natural farming. He announced a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) for natural maize from ₹30 to ₹40 per kg, while natural wheat will now be procured at ₹60 per kg, up from ₹40 per kg.

These measures reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural and dairy sectors, ensuring better income for farmers, and encouraging sustainable farming practices across Himachal Pradesh.
