Rajasthan Weather Update: Sudden Hailstorm and Rain Bring Relief, Met Issues Fresh Alert

Jaipur: Rajasthan witnessed a dramatic shift in weather on Friday evening, as multiple districts, including Jaipur, Churu, and Sri Ganganagar, experienced unexpected rain and hailstorms. The downpour provided much-needed relief from the rising temperatures, with a noticeable drop of 1 to 3 degrees Celsius across several cities.

Churu Turns White as Hailstorm Strikes

Churu saw one of the most intense weather events, with heavy hail covering the ground in a white blanket. Several villages in the Sadulpur region reported a sudden 20-minute storm with gram-sized hailstones. The storm brought strong winds, adding to the dramatic change in weather.

 

Jaipur Sees Gusty Winds and Drizzle

 

The capital city, Jaipur, turned cloudy by evening, followed by strong winds and a light drizzle in multiple areas. The cool breeze created a pleasant atmosphere, much to the delight of residents.

 

Sri Ganganagar and Other Regions Hit by Rain

 

Sri Ganganagar also experienced moderate rainfall in different parts of the district. Meanwhile, areas like Chaumu, Kotputli-Bahadur, and Bansur reported hailstorms, adding to the unusual weather pattern.

 

Western Disturbance Triggers Rain Across Rajasthan

 

The sudden weather shift is attributed to a western disturbance that impacted Rajasthan on Thursday. Several districts, including Jaipur, Sikar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Alwar, Bikaner, and Churu, experienced rainfall and hailstorms. Sikar recorded the highest rainfall at 8 mm, followed by Alwar with 2.4 mm.

 

Temperature Drops Across the State

 

The unexpected showers have led to a significant temperature drop, offering respite from the heat. Notable temperature readings include:

 

Chittorgarh: 39.7°C

 

Kota: 39.1°C

 

Ajmer: 35.6°C (Max), 19.6°C (Min)

 

Bhilwara: 36.9°C (Max), 16.5°C (Min)

 

Alwar: 35°C (Max), 16.5°C (Min)

 

 

For the first time in weeks, no city in Rajasthan recorded temperatures above 40°C.

 

Fresh Weather Alert for 11 Districts

 

The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh alert for thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms in 11 districts on Saturday, March 16. Residents are advised to stay cautious as strong winds and rain may continue in several areas.

 

Upcoming Weather Forecast

 

The Met Office has predicted further weather changes over the next few days:

 

March 15: Parts of Bikaner, Raipur, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Nagaur, and nearby regions may witness light rain and strong winds (30-40 km/h) by afternoon. Skies will remain cloudy.

 

March 16: Northern Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions may see light rainfall, while other areas are expected to remain dry.

 

Temperature Outlook: A further 2-3°C drop in maximum temperatures is expected within 48 hours, ensuring continued relief from the heat.
