Chandigarh, February 27 – In a significant step towards supporting farmers affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorms, the Haryana Government has announced that farmers of Jind district can register their crop damage details on the Kshatipurti Portal until March 10.
According to a government spokesperson, reports from the Deputy Commissioner of Jind confirm that heavy rainfall on February 20 caused substantial crop damage in several villages, including Assan, Kharkaramji, Chabri, Nepewala, Koyal, Bahadurpur, and Sandeel. Responding to farmers’ requests, the government has decided to reopen the portal, enabling them to record their losses and seek compensation.
The Kshatipurti Portal, introduced by the state government, ensures a transparent and efficient compensation process for farmers. Unlike previous systems where assessment was conducted by patwaris and revenue officials—often leading to allegations of bias—the digital platform now allows farmers to self-report their crop damage. This move has been widely appreciated, as it eliminates middlemen and ensures direct benefit transfer to verified bank accounts linked with the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal.
By directly depositing compensation into farmers’ accounts, the government aims to provide quick financial relief, reinforcing its commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural resilience. Affected farmers are urged to take advantage of this facility and register their claims before the March 10 deadline.
