Haryana’s 2025-26 Budget
Focus on Road Repairs, Gas Subsidy for Families, and Timely Delivery of Election Promises
Chandigarh, February 10 – Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, unveiled a bold vision for the state’s future during a program in Panchkula, emphasizing that the 2025-26 general budget will focus on the development of the state’s people. With key inputs from various stakeholders, the upcoming budget aims to propel Haryana’s progress at an accelerated pace, aiming for a three-fold increase in the speed of development under the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
The Chief Minister, in his address, outlined several key achievements and plans. He announced that the state government has already delivered on 18 of the 240 promises made in the BJP’s election manifesto within just 100 days of governance. Additionally, work is underway on six other resolutions expected to be completed soon, while 50 others are in various stages, pending financial or administrative approval. CM Saini reiterated the commitment that all 240 promises will be fulfilled within the stipulated time frame.
One of the most significant initiatives he highlighted was the repair and maintenance of roads across the state. In the first 100 days alone, the Haryana government has allocated Rs. 347 crore for the repair of 810 km of roads, ensuring that no road in the state remains in disrepair. This is a clear indication of the BJP’s emphasis on infrastructural development.
On the welfare front, the Chief Minister provided further details on the government’s initiatives aimed at aiding the underprivileged. A major focus has been on providing gas cylinders to 13 lakh poor families at a subsidized rate of Rs. 500, a move aimed at easing the burden on those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Looking ahead to the upcoming urban local body elections, Saini assured the people that the BJP is fully prepared. The party will contest with utmost seriousness, utilizing a three-tier system of governance to expedite development across Haryana, ensuring no region is left behind.
Taking a moment to critique the opposition, the Chief Minister asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP is driving development at an unprecedented pace—three times faster than ever before. He challenged the opposition, stating that while it is their duty to criticize, they must also acknowledge the positive work being done by the current government. He cited the praise of 2.80 crore people in Haryana as a testament to the government’s successful policies.
Responding to allegations made during the Delhi elections about Haryana allegedly poisoning Yamuna water, Saini termed the accusations as unfortunate and baseless. He specifically targeted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of using such falsehoods to divert attention from his own government’s failures. He remarked that these allegations were merely a tactic to cover up the “shop of lies” run by Kejriwal’s administration, which had been decisively rejected by the people of Delhi in the elections.
Saini also highlighted the Congress party’s repeated failures, particularly in Haryana, where the opposition had struggled to secure even a single seat in the 2020 elections, a trend he predicted would continue in the 2029 state elections. He drew a contrast between Congress’s 55-year tenure in power, which he claimed neglected the welfare of farmers, and the proactive measures taken by Prime Minister Modi’s government in just 10 years. Under the current BJP government, 100% of Haryana’s farmers’ produce is purchased at the minimum support price (MSP), ensuring that farmers receive fair compensation.
In addition, Saini took a direct swipe at former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, accusing him of neglecting the issue of vacant government positions during his 10-year tenure. He assured the people that the current government is providing jobs based on merit, without favoritism or corruption, thereby restoring the faith of the youth in the state’s governance.
On a final note, the Chief Minister addressed the internal matters of the Congress party, particularly the election of the Leader of the Opposition. While respecting their democratic process, Saini stressed the importance of a strong opposition for the sake of democracy’s health and purity. He also pointed out the uniform development seen in various regions of Haryana, including Kalka, Narnaul, Ellenabad, and Radaur, showcasing the government’s commitment to equitable progress across the state, irrespective of geographic or political boundaries.
This ambitious roadmap laid out by CM Saini reflects the Haryana government’s firm commitment to meeting the needs of its people, driving infrastructural development, ensuring social welfare, and delivering on electoral promises with unprecedented speed. As the state moves forward under the BJP’s leadership, Haryana is poised for a new era of growth and prosperity.
