New Initiative to Address Concerns of Non-Resident Indians
Chandigarh, February 9, 2025: The Punjab government has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline—90560 09884—to assist Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) facing grievances. This initiative aims to streamline the process for NRIs seeking resolution to their concerns by directly connecting them with the relevant authorities.
According to an official statement, complaints received through the WhatsApp number will be forwarded to the appropriate government departments, as well as the Additional Director General of Police (NRI Wing) of the Punjab Police for swift action. NRIs can also visit nri.punjab.gov.in for additional information and assistance.
Streamlining NRI Affairs
Punjab’s Administrative Reforms and NRI Affairs Minister, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting NRIs. The department is also facilitating the countersigning and attestation of various documents, ensuring a seamless process for NRIs dealing with official paperwork.
A Step Towards Better NRI Engagement
This initiative reflects Punjab’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with its global diaspora and address their legal, administrative, and property-related concerns efficiently. With a significant Punjabi population residing abroad, the government aims to offer swift redressal mechanisms to build trust and confidence among NRIs.
For NRIs looking to raise concerns, Punjab’s latest initiative ensures faster response times, better coordination between departments, and direct oversight by senior officials.
