A major train accident was narrowly avoided on Tuesday morning in Haryana’s Rewari district. The Runicha Express, traveling from Jaisalmer to Delhi, collided with iron debris lying on the railway tracks. The impact damaged the train’s battery box, but fortunately, all passengers remained unharmed.
Track Maintenance Work Was Underway
The incident occurred around 9 AM near Hari Nagar village on the Rewari-Narnaul railway route, where track replacement work was in progress. Due to the train’s slow speed, a major mishap was averted. However, the sudden jolt created panic among passengers, prompting some to jump off the train in fear. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Quick Response by Railway Authorities
Following the incident, railway officials acted swiftly, providing a replacement engine within two hours, ensuring minimal disruption. During this time, opportunistic auto drivers charged passengers between ₹50 to ₹100 to transport them to the nearest railway station.
Investigation Underway
Railway police arrived at the scene and launched an inquiry into why old track debris was left near the tracks. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future.
