AAP Accuses BJP of Voter ID Manipulation Ahead of Delhi Elections

On Saturday morning, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh held a press conference at the party office, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in electoral fraud for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Singh alleged that BJP leaders were bringing in people from outside Delhi to create fake voter IDs in their favor. He claimed that this practice involved prominent figures, including central ministers and BJP MPs.

Allegations of Voter ID Fraud Involving BJP Leaders

Sanjay Singh presented evidence to back his claims, showing a document that suggested BJP leader Pravesh Verma had applied for 35 voter IDs using the address of his official residence. He also accused central ministers Pankaj Chaudhary, Kamlesh Paswan, and BJP MP Jayprakash Hardoi of submitting similar applications for over 25 voter IDs at their respective Delhi residences.

Singh stated that such fraudulent activities were typical of how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government wins elections. According to Singh, the BJP was undermining the credibility of the Election Commission by conducting these illicit activities right under its nose.

Election Campaign Heats Up as Polling Dates Approach

The Delhi Assembly elections are set to take place on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. The current term of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will end on February 23. As the election day draws near, political rhetoric between AAP and BJP continues to intensify.

AAP Accuses BJP of Election Commission Manipulation

During the press conference, Singh accused the BJP of misleading the Election Commission. He asserted that while the BJP continued to focus on minor issues like Arvind Kejriwal’s toilet policies, a major electoral scam was unfolding right under the Election Commission’s watch. Singh called on the Election Commission to take immediate notice of this ongoing manipulation.

BJP Responds with Counterattacks

In a counterattack, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the INDIA alliance, claiming it was doomed to fail due to lack of vision and unity. Poonawalla mocked the alliance’s leadership, stating that it was nothing more than a political group bound by personal ambitions rather than a coherent national agenda.

Poster Wars Escalate: AAP and BJP Exchange Barbs

As the election campaign heats up, the poster war between AAP and BJP is intensifying. On Saturday morning, AAP released new posters, labeling BJP as the “Indian Abusive Party” and urging voters to reject them. The posters also encouraged the public to vote for Kejriwal once again.

In retaliation, BJP issued an edited poster from the film “Jodha Akbar,” depicting Kejriwal as a figure akin to a disastrous ruler. The BJP also released another edited video inspired by the film “Wednesday,” where Kejriwal was portrayed as a major electoral fraud.

AAP Questions BJP’s Record on Promises

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar responded to the BJP’s allegations, asserting that the BJP should focus on fulfilling the promises they made in the 2014, 2017, and 2019 elections rather than criticizing AAP. She emphasized that BJP’s 10-year tenure at the center had failed to deliver on their pledges.

BJP Criticizes Kejriwal’s Leadership

BJP Delhi President Virender Sachdeva also criticized Kejriwal’s governance, calling him a disaster for Delhi. Sachdeva attacked Kejriwal’s decision to build a massive “Sheesh Mahal” (Glass Palace) during the COVID-19 pandemic, arguing that it was an unnecessary expenditure when Delhi was grappling with the pandemic.

BJP Prepares for Second List of Candidates

The BJP is expected to release its second list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections today. The list is likely to include further strategic decisions, with Pravesh Verma being fielded against Arvind Kejriwal, and Ramesh Bidhuri opposing Atishi in the elections. Media reports suggest that the BJP’s core committee will meet before releasing the list, setting the stage for a tight electoral battle in the coming weeks.
